Chelsea Kiwanis holds punt, pass and kick before football game

Many of the participants in Friday night's punt, pass and kick competition hosted by Chelsea Kiwanis.

Before your Bulldogs notched the team’s first win of the season Friday night, 20 Chelsea boys and girls participated in a punt, pass and kick competition on the practice field next door to Jerry Niehaus Field.

Eight girls and 12 boys took the line for the fun competition put on by the Chelsea Kiwanis and the winners in each age group category advanced to the next round, which will take place later this fall.

“This is the first one in recent memory,” said Dave Schaible, chairman of the event. “This is something that the Kiwanis will continue next year; it’s an event that will get better numbers in the future.”

Plus, there was a nice crowd on hand to cheer on the youngsters during the competition, which took place on Future Bulldog night, Friday, Sept. 14.

In the 10-11 year old girls division, Jessica Emmert and Savannah Fisk.

In the 12-13 year old girls division, Emily Griggs and Kara Nold.

And, to top off the perfect night for football, your Chelsea Bulldogs defeated Ypsilanti, 43-18.

“The is just another way that the Kiwanis serves the community and if anyone has ideas for other events they’d like to see, tell them to contact us,” Schaible said.
