The Chelsea Kiwanis Club hosted Chelsea Boy Scout and Cub Scout packs last Monday.
Pack 435 Cub Scouts spoke about their year, and presented our club with a copy of their charter. Kiwanis Club of Chelsea is the chartering organization for Packs 435 and 455, and Troops 425 and 476. The pinewood derby and orienteering were the most memorable and enjoyable among the many activities in which they participated.
Pack 455 Cub Scouts spoke about the fun they had playing games together and walking in the forest.
Troop 476 has two upcoming recognitions for scouts attaining the Eagle rank. They will participate in the Memorial Day parade this month. The boys enjoyed working on merit badges, went skiing and gaming, did some camping, some cooking, and went on a mystery outing.
Troop 425 went on a canoe trip up north, did some hiking and shooting, camped out and fished.
Troop 413 made friends at summer camp, tried new things, and improved life skills. They used part of our support to insure all could participate regardless of ability to afford an activity.
President Marianne Knox presented Governor Larry Memmer with a certificate of appreciation from Kiwanis International for his efforts in opening new Kiwanis Clubs. He has helped open many clubs over the last few years, introducing many communities and their citizens to the service they can provide to others through Kiwanis. Recently, eight clubs opened in one day, a first in Kiwanis’s 104-year history.
Memmer inducted the Chelsea club’s two newest members – Tony Ligi, Sr., and Tony Ligi, Jr.
Chelsea Kiwanis meets each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.
Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to enjoy our speakers and learn about Kiwanis.
