(Chelsea Update would like to thank Sara Wedell for the information in this story.)
The Chelsea District Library will host Rev. Robert Jones on Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. for a performance in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The event is presented in partnership with One World One Family.
Jones is an American roots musician, performer and singer/songwriter. He performed at the 2012 Midwest Literary Walk and again as part of the library’s 2013 Sonic Sundays music series.
Here is a video http://youtu.be/CWu9rXBuTDg. of him performing his song “Will Cunningham.”
He will return to Chelsea with his signature blend of blues and folk music and present a musical history of the development of musical styles and significance of music in the African-American experience.
A self-taught guitarist, Jones’ talents have been featured at the National Storytelling Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, and Chelsea’s own Midwest Literary Walk.
All ages are welcome to this entertaining and informative performance
The event will take place in the McKune Room. You can register online or by calling the information desk at 475-8732, ext. 219.
