Chelsea Milling Company receives planning commission OK for roof overhang

By Lisa Carolin

The Chelsea Milling Company received approval to construct a new 1,089-square-foot roof overhang at 301 Hayes St. from the Chelsea Planning Commission at its Dec. 15 meeting via Zoom.

The facility is zoned industrial and the roof overhang will go between buildings above the truck loading area at Jiffy Mix. The purpose is to keep rain and snow off pallets and for a safer working environment for employees.

Also at the meeting, Vince Elie was approved as the new vice chair of the planning commission because Adam Ellison will be stepping down from the commission.

Planning Commission Chairwoman Claire Robinson formally thanked former Chairperson Larry Ledebur, who resigned from the commission due to health reasons.

Andre Monge was welcomed as a new member of the commission.

Planning commissioners approved dates for meetings in the 2021 calendar year. The first Tuesdays of the month are work sessions, and the third Tuesdays of the month are voting meetings. The only exceptions are when a holiday falls on a Monday, and the planning commission’s subsequent meetings are moved to a Wednesday.
