Chelsea Parks Commission Discusses Dog Park Survey

By Lisa Carolin

The Chelsea Parks Commission gave feedback on a survey for Dog Park users put together by Chair Shawn Personke at the June 7 meeting.

Focusing on the Dog Park has been a priority for commission members. They discussed looking at shade element options for the Dog Park as well as getting signage similar to that at Pierce Park to be mounted near McKinley Street as well as a sign in the park to remind people to clean up after their dogs.

Also talked about was looking at designs for bike racks at Veterans Park and Pierce Park.

Personke mentioned the possibility that the 5 Healthy Towns Chelsea Wellness Coalition might pay for a bike rack at Timbertown where the number of bicyclists is expected to increase due to the B2B path.

Applying for a county grant to help fund a connector between parks was also discussed. It’s an idea members look forward to sharing with Roy Atkinson, the city’s top choice for city manager, who made an appearance via Zoom during the Parks Commission meeting.

The Parks Commission won’t meet in July because it’s a holiday week and will meet next on Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.
