Plans for Timbertown Reimagined (TTR) were discussed at the Chelsea Parks and Recreation Commission meeting July 9.
The demolition of the Timbertown play structure has begun and equipment is beginning to arrive. The tentative date for Timbertown’s grand re-opening is Aug. 17. More than 50 Chelsea school athletes from the cross country and football teams helped move mulch as the first phase of the project.
Parking will be limited throughout the construction, so park users are encouraged to carpool, bike, or walk to the park. The Vets Park lot is also available. Parks Commissioner Patrick Muldoon encouraged people to “wear their patience cap.”
Parks Commission chair Shawn Personke announced exciting news about the update of Timbertown’s Pathway to Renewal. She said the subcommittee has been meeting with a new local artist to look at ways the pathway can be restored and renewed. The committee planned to meet on July 10 to fine tune plans and submit a grant to a state arts agency.
Anyone interested in signing up for various volunteer opportunities at Timbertown Reimagined can go to the website https://www.timbertownchelsea.org/volunteer for more information. The shifts are only 4 hours long and they include everything from checking in volunteers to organizing food buffets to toting, sanding, and painting. All skill levels are needed.
In other news, both Chelsea residents and those who live in the area are encouraged to take the city master plan survey. Go to https://www.city-chelsea.org/news_detail_T2_R39.php to take the survey. More than 250 people have done so to date.
The parks commission meets next on Aug.13 at 9 a.m.
