Chelsea School District welcomes to new staff members

Charlotte Yu and Catherine Kotlarek became the two newest Chelsea School District staff members Monday night when the Chelsea Board of Education unanimously voted to approve their contracts.

Yu was hired as an elementary social worker and Kotlarek as an elementary instructional specialist.

Superintendent of Schools Andy Ingall said the district was “really lucky” to find someone with Charlotte’s credentials at this time of year. “She’ll bring a wealth of expertise,” he said.

School Board President Steve Olsen said the additional staff members were sought with board approval and “to help with the focus school designation and get it cured.”

Ingall said that Kotlarek’s hiring was to work on “individualized student instruction” and she brings 10-plus years in education to the district. “Catherine will bring a lot and be able to dive in and get started right away,” he said.

He said the new hires as well as a third person from within the district will begin their new jobs on or about Dec. 10.
