Although it will take some time to certify the attendance numbers from Count Day on Oct. 1 in the Chelsea School District, preliminary figures show an increase of about 30 students.

Count Day was “another great day of education in Chelsea with great attendance, as usual,” said Superintendent of Schools Andy Ingall.

He said that the business office needs some time to review and certify the final count, “but we are expecting to see an overall increase of approximately 30 students.”

Ingall said this will provide increased revenue and was helpful to the Chelsea Board of Education in deciding to add an additional section of kindergarten as well as six additional English classes at Chelsea High School earlier this year.
