In its on-going effort to increase transportation opportunities for area seniors, the Chelsea Senior Center (CSC) is excited to introduce the “Ann Van”.

The van supports its ROAM program and joins the WAVE’s ROAM bus in providing transportation options for area seniors.

The new van is lovingly known as the “Ann Van” in honor of our late friend Ann Feeney who volunteered for over 40+ years with the meals on wheels program.

A very powerful force in improving the Chelsea Community, Feeney epitomized what it means to be a “volunteer”.  In naming the van the “Ann Van”, CSC honors the hundreds of dedicated volunteers, past and present, who support the center and help make it the great community resource that it is.

ROAM (Rural Older Adults in Motion) was launched in 2018 by the Chelsea Senior Center to address transportation challenges in rural communities. The center partners with WAVE to fund the operation of the ROAM bus. Transportation requests from area seniors will continue to be fulfilled using the ROAM bus.

The new CSC van will be used to fulfill transportation needs outside of the WAVE’s regular schedule and to meet the changing needs of the center and its members.

ROAM is made possible through the Vital Seniors Initiative and funded by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and the Glacier Hills Legacy Fund.

The Chelsea Senior Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit located in the Washington Street Education Center at 512 Washington St. with office hours Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Visit www.chelseaseniors.org for more information about programs and services.  CSC will be reopening for on-site activities for its members in the near future.
