Chelsea solar home tour taking place Saturday, Oct. 6

There are 13 sites in the Chelsea area that are part of the Michigan Solar Homes Tour taking place Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The tour is free and it’s self-guided. Stop by the Chelsea District Library to pick up a name tag, brochure and a map to the homes.

“There is a wide variety of solar photovoltaic installations, passive solar design, wind, and geothermal — all renewable energy derived from the sun whether direct or indirect,”according to information about the event.

Plus, Jet’s Pizza is offering discounts on pizza and drinks for solar tourists who register at the library.

Those interested can browse the homes at their leisure and talk to homeowners about their systems that produce renewable energy derived from the sun in one form or another, according to information about the event.

Here’s a look at the flyer for the event and for more information about Transition Town Chelsea, email [email protected] to or go to the group’s website.
