Chelsea State Bank recently announced it has selected Nancy Graebner to receive the 2021 Annual Woman of CSB Award. The Woman of CSB Award was established in 2020 to honor women who have made a difference to Chelsea State Bank and the communities it serves.
Graebner is the President of St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea (SJMC), a joint venture hospital of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and Michigan Medicine. She is also a member of Chelsea State Bank’s Board of Directors.

“Nancy is a member of our Board of Directors and a passionate community leader. She works tirelessly to help make our communities a safer, healthier place for all of us to live, work and grow together. As the local community bank, Nancy’s work aligns with our mission to enrich the communities we serve by giving of our time and resources, while providing exceptional service and stable progressive solutions. We are committed to your success today and tomorrow.”
Graebner joined Chelsea State Bank’s Board of Directors in April 2015. With a strong financial management background, her diverse career in hospital operations and business strategy development spans more than 30 years.

Graebner is a native of Ann Arbor, where she was able to return to join St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea in 2012 after leaving her post at Bon Secours St Francis Health System, Inc., in Greenville S.C.
Under Graebner’s direction, St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea has expanded its acute care campus to include all private patient rooms, a comprehensive cancer center and additional operating rooms. Included in this effort has been further integration of the hospital with Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and its national entity Trinity Health, and formation of the joint venture with Michigan Medicine.
Also under Graebner’s leadership, St. Joe’s Chelsea recently appeared on the 2021 list of Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals, recognizing the remarkable care provided to area residents.
Graebner has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University. She serves as a member of numerous boards including the Washtenaw County Community Mental Health, Washtenaw Health Initiative, St Louis Center, Chelsea Senior Center, 5 Healthy Towns, and St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.
Most recently, Graebner was chosen as the 2020 Citizen of the Year by the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce and the citizens of Chelsea. She was honored for her dedication and service to the community of Chelsea. As president of St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea, Graebner is seen as a representative of all health care workers, which made this award particularly significant during 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have such an engaged community and no matter what the topic or issue is, our community is always ready to engage, and work together to support each other,” said Graebner. “I’m so blessed to be here and honored to serve.”
