(Chelsea Update is running a series on businesses in Chelsea beginning with businesses that belong to the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.)

The Rick Eder Agency, LLC is a franchise of Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan and is a multi-line agency that provides home, auto, farm country estate, lake estate, life insurance and health insurance as well as commercial insurance such as business auto, business liability and worker’s compensation insurance.

Rick Eder joined his office with Dave Rowe’s office in 2003, and Rowe retired in 2007.

Besides Eder, there are four others on his team. Kim Warrens has been providing customer service since 2004.

Nicole Maze has over 8 years of experience and not only provides customer service, but also is also a licensed agent and assists current clients with additional products.

Joe La Rosa began his insurance career with the agency in 2010 and is also a licensed agent and mainly works with new clients.

The newest addition to the team is Liz Schmid who recently began as a customer service representative.

Eder says that they work to help clients understand the products they sell in order to make educated decisions.

Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce logo“We aren’t high pressure sales,” said Eder. “We are real people that you can sit down with and have a private conversation about insurance needs. We believe it’s better to have the conversations before a loss versus after a loss has occurred.”

Eder is the fifth generation of his family to reside in Chelsea.

“Being able to own a business that protects the people of this area from the risks of everyday life is rewarding,” said Eder. “I love the fact that there is one traffic light between my house and my office. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.”
