Feel like drinking a healthy meal or snack?

Bulldog Nutrition opened Nov. 6 in the Chelsea Shopping Center at the corner of South Main Street and Old U.S. 12 and offers a variety of protein-filled options.

It’s an independently owned and operated family business run by Christy Dew and Bob Seelfeld. They are independent Herbalife distributors.

“In this day, the obesity rates are skyrocketing, so we just wanted to provide a different kind of fast food and fun to our community!” said Dew. “We are also referred to as a nutrition club, so you’ll hear that mentioned when you visit us. There are no membership fees. We have a coffee shop feel around a healthy, happy, positive environment.”

They hope to attract people of all ages, whether it’s to lose weight, maintain health, or to gain weight.

“Anyone is welcome to schedule a one on one time to sit down with either one of us to speak about Herbalife product use for their needs and home use,” said Dew. “Smoothies, tea, and aloe are mainly what we sell. It’s kind of like a package deal. You get two plastic cups – tea, with or without your aloe shot, and a shake/smoothie, which is a complete healthy meal with 24 grams of protein, 200-240 calories, and 21 essential vitamins and minerals.”

The aloe is helpful for digestion. The teas include green, black and oolong tea blend. There are numerous smoothie options including vanilla, mint chocolate, dulce de leche, wild berry, pina colada, banana caramel, and orange cream.

Bulldog Nutrition also offers healthy energy drinks, pre-workout and post-workout supplementation, packaged healthy protein snacks, and coffee.

The couple both grew up in Ann Arbor and now live with their blended family of four children in Manchester.

“I am a substance abuse/mental health social worker/case manager by heart and trade and decided to leave corporate America and pursue my dreams within Herbalife by helping people in other ways than through social work,” said Dew, who added that Seelfeld retired recently from the beer business after nearly 25 years.

They joined the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce to be involved in the Chelsea community. They hope to schedule a ribbon cutting ceremony later this month. Business hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m., which they hope to extend soon.
