The Chelsea varsity lacrosse team opened its season with a 9-1 loss to Lansing Waverly at home on Friday, March 22.
Coach Joe Koengeter via email that said despite the loss, “There were a lot of good learning points that came out of this game and we showed a lot of potential.”
Chelsea opened the game with a long offensive possession and got some really good shots on goal.
But about half-way through the first quarter, Waverly settled in and scored 3 goals. Waverly added another goal in the second quarter to lead 4-0 at half time. Waverly then scored three more goals in the third period before Nick Felton assisted Joey Olmsted in scoring the only goal of the night for Chelsea.
Waverly added a goal in the third and two more fourth quarter to finish out the game out.
The team takes on Romulus at home today, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Jerry Niehaus Field and the team is also at home on Wednesday, March 27 versus Greenhills beginning at 7 p.m. So stop by and support Bulldog lacrosse.
