The Chelsea Varsity Lacrosse team scored two victories this week.

On Monday, Ypsilanti visited Chelsea and the Bulldogs sent them home with a 22-3 loss.

Among the scorers were Joey Olmsted with seven goals, Chris Hudson scored three goals and Christian Clippert scored twice.

Josh Bach, Dominic Goderis and Eric Newman had a great game at defense, Head Coach Joe Koengeter said.

Josh Galbreath had 11 saves in goal.

Chelsea also defeated Temperance Bedford, 7-5, recently.

“Our kids had some great looks to score and hit a few pipes, the luck was not on our side in the first quarter or half, it seemed like every good look we got on offense would hit the pipe, goalie, or miss the net,” Koengeter said.

Hudson had the first goal of the game and the team added two more goals after that to go into half time down by one goal.

“The mentality of half time was good as we focused on the things we were doing right and that if we kept doing them the ball would end up in the back of the net,” the coach said.

“Our defense consisting of Bach, Goderis, and led by senior captain Newman instructed our offense that all then needed to do was to score 2 goals and we would win the game.”

Chelsea came back to take a 5-4 lead, but Bedford had other ideas of how the game would finish and tied the game at 5 goals each, before Chelsea put the game on ice with two more goals.

Galbreath came up with some very big saves throughout the game including 6 saves in the 4th quarter to be the difference in the game, the coach said.
