The Saline-Chelsea Ski Team competed at Mt Brighton last week, racing slalom on Tuesday and giant slalom on Thursday.

In the slalom event, the girls took 8th out of 10 teams. The team was led by Saline senior Nikki Dillmann, who finished in 19th place. Also in scoring position were Anna Mueller (Saline, 9th grade), Emily Hornberger (Saline, 10th grade), and Chelsea Bachran (Saline, 9th grade).

On the boy’s side, Chelsea senior Erik Koseck won the race, with a 2-run combined time of 44.23. The team did not have enough finishers for a boys’ team score.

In the giant slalom event on Thursday, the girls again took 8th place, with Nikki Dillmann (16th place), Chelsea Bachran (43rd), Anna Mueller (44th) and Grace Yoders (45th) comprising the scoring.

Koseck again took 1st place, with a solid 1.36 second lead over the second-place finisher from Brighton High School.

“The girls ski team is rebuilding after two of our fastest racers graduated last year. But we have several new freshmen with a promising racing future once they get some experience under their belt,” said coach Laura Dillmann.

“Erik Koseck continues to lead for the boy’s team. He qualified for states last year, but was sidelined with a broken collar bone before that race. I’m confident that he will qualify again this year. He has several years of race experience and is really fun to watch,” the coach said.
