For the last 11 years, Chelsea ATA Martial Arts has been located in Chelsea, and since last year, the business moved to the second floor of the Chelsea Clocktower Building.

It started out as a small club in Manchester, and then in 2006, Dan Righter (now a Sr. Master, 7th Degree Black Belt and head instructor) took over, moving the business to Chelsea in part because it was a larger community.

Righter has been training in martial arts since he was a child. He says his passion became an ambition to own his own business and teach martial arts, something he hopes to pass down to his own children.

He wants all students to know that, “Everyone starts as a beginner. One of the biggest statements I get especially from prospective adult students is that they or their child have never done this before. If they already knew everything there was to know about martial arts, there would be no reason to learn.”

Righter says that many of his business’s students live in Chelsea and the surrounding area, and that Chelsea ATA Martial Arts is developing a strong relationship with the community.

“We work with children ages 3 through adult helping them to become leaders through martial arts,” said Righter. “Our students and their families become part of our martial arts family growing with and supporting each other.”

He says that anytime you visit Chelsea ATA Martial Arts, you’ll find students practicing.

“They are developing life skills such as discipline, respect, and courtesy,” said Righter.
