Choose Chelsea: Palmer Auto Service celebrates 11th year in business

Palmer Auto Service, a full-service, family-owned and operated auto repair service on Main Street in Chelsea, celebrates 11 years in business.

“A huge thank you to the community for their support over the past eleven years. Each passing year has brought a sense of accomplishment, and without our customer’s confidence in our services, this would not be possible,” said Robert (Bob) Mock, Jr, owner of Palmer Auto Service in a press release.

One of the “under the radar” stories of Chelsea is the evolution of Palmer Auto Service. He started working at Village Motor Sales in 1983 at the age of 16, washing cars.

After he graduated from Chelsea High School, he attended Chrysler auto repair training. In 1999, he joined Palmer Ford-Mercury, working there until he acquired the company in 2009 and opened Palmer Auto Service.

Mock is proud to be born and raised in Chelsea and to operate a family business in the city.

While Palmer Auto Service pays tribute to the community’s history, the company continuously moves forward, always training and using the latest technological tools and advances.

The business provides a multi-point vehicle inspection to ensure that customers see and understand what repairs need to happen and why. They also use a “Digital Shop” smartphone app, which allows Service Advisors to efficiently communicate with customers throughout the service process.

Technicians are experts in vehicle repair and are continually trained on the latest vehicles and equipment.

Palmer’s culture is all about maintaining cars for long life, focusing on timely and quality service. The staff takes the time to learn about customers and strives to provide customers with the best value.

Mock and his Service Manager Bryan Flaws, share the satisfaction that comes with finding the best solution for customers. Together, they are on a mission to improve their service offerings with the best new technologies and are always creating an atmosphere of quality service, integrity, and respect.

Mock feels a sense of achievement from the maintenance and growth of the service part of Palmer Ford-Mercury Dealership.

“It is a legacy that I will pass on to my family,” he said. Bob’s father, who celebrates his 80th birthday this month, his son-in-law and two sons also work at Palmer Auto Service.
