City, DDA seeking Longworth Plating property pre-demolition abatement bids

The City of Chelsea and its Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is accepting proposals for the pre-demolition abatement of the former Longworth Plating property, located at 110 Jackson St.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the project site.

All bidders are required to attend the pre-bid meeting and subsequent tour of the selected structures representing site conditions. Prospective bidders may secure the bid packet and project specifications at the mandatory meeting.

It shall be the responsibility of the prospective bidders to visit the site and premises for this project and familiarize themselves with existing conditions affecting the work, including calculation of quantities of materials to be impacted and disposed/recycled, according to a press release from the city.

Sealed bids will be received by Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. (the owner’s consultant), at 43980 Plymouth Oaks Blvd., Plymouth, MI 48170-2584, until 3 p.m., local time, on Friday, Feb. 15, for furnishing all labor, materials, and performing all work in connection with this project.

The contract(s) will be awarded by the City of Chelsea and its DDA, on Thursday, Feb. 21.

A notice of the award will be transmitted via facsimile, email, or regular mail to the selected bidder(s) at the address given on the bidder(s) on the proposal.

Upon receipt of the notice of award, the selected bidder(s) will be responsible to notify the appropriate regulatory agencies via overnight delivery service such that the abatement may begin by Monday, March 11.
