Community Kitchen wine tasting fundraiser planned on Oct. 11

There’s a special wine-tasting class planned to benefit the Chelsea Community Kitchen at The Depot.

“Savor: A Wine Component Tasting,” is planned for Thursday, Oct. 11 from 7-9 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This is an opportunity to support a local non-profit, while learning what gives wine its character.

Peter di Lorenzi, wine educator and a consultant to restaurants and retailers, will lead an exploration into “the concept of ‘balance’ in wine evaluation and appreciation,” according to information about the event.

It’s a change to “imbibe informational and sensory data about the various components of wine, isolate them and then reintegrate them into ‘whole wine’ in a way that will enable you to experience clearly how they function in interaction with all the other components of wine,” the information states.

In addition to di Lorenzi, additional wine experts will be on hand, including representatives of the Michigan Grape & Wine Industry Council, who will introduce participants to award-winning local wines.

Tickets are $75 per person in advance of the event that takes place at 125 Jackson St.
