Contract for IT services between Chelsea, Ann Arbor on tonight’s council agenda

The Chelsea City Council has a light agenda for its Jan. 22 meeting, which includes the discussion of a 1-year contract renewal with the City of Ann Arbor for information technology support.

Chelsea and Ann Arbor have had an information technology contract for an IT person since February 2011 when Ann Arbor hired Chelsea’s former intern.

“This year’s contract has been extended to include services for our Police Department, who has previously been serviced separately through Washtenaw County,” according to an agenda item summary from Kim Garland, administrative services director.

This year’s $55,614 IT contract includes a $23,000 increase from last year “to support the inclusion of the Chelsea Police Department as well as a new website design.

The costs for the contract are expected to be allocated across six funds – 30 percent each to the general fund and police department fund or $16,684 per fund, with the remainder to be paid for from the solid waste, electric, wastewater and water funds.

If approved by the City Council, the contract is expected to be on the Ann Arbor City Council’s agenda for its Feb. 7 meeting.

Also on the agenda is the appointment of three people to the Private Will Board of Appeals – the city engineer and two council members.

On the consent agenda is a change in the timing of the traffic light at the intersection of the Chelsea High School/Chelsea Senior Center driveways and Freer Road, where there have been several car-pedestrian accidents.

The meeting takes place at the new Police Building at 7 p.m.
