Dec. 18: ‘Blue Christmas Service’ at Zion Lutheran Church

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Mary Tobin for the information in this story.)

Zion Lutheran Church will hold a Blue Christmas Service on Dec. 18.

Yes, blue as in the blues. As in “I am feeling blue.”

Not everyone is cheery and excited for the Christmas holidays. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and gatherings difficult, even painful for some.

There is a growing attentiveness to the needs of people who are blue at Christmas.

This service is meant to be reflective, accepting where we really are, and holding out healing and hope.

Join Pastor Kathy Tulman and Minister Dale Eckart for a Blue Christmas service. We will gather Wednesday evening, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 3050 South Fletcher Road.

All are welcome.
