Dec. 3-4: Hometown Holidays Returns

The annual tradition of Chelsea’s Hometown Holiday resumes this year on Dec. 3-4 with a large number of events taking place.

For more information about additional events not included in this story or fo more specific information for Hometown Holiday events and other events taking place throughout the month of December, click  https://chelseamich.com/hometown-holiday/.

As is tradition the Friday night of Hometown Holidays, it will kick off with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa will be on hand in Pierce Park for the tree lighting that takes place at 6 p.m.

Prior to that, from 4-6 p.m. there will be free pizza while supplies last, courtesy of Jet’s Pizza, and Lakehouse Bakery will be on hand to warm you up with hot cocoa and sweet treats (available for purchase). Look for the tents set up in the Chelsea Custom Shirts/Twister’s parking lot next to Pierce Park.

From there, head to Palmer Commons for the live nativity, which will have two shows — one at 6:30 p.m. and the second at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Bruce’s Breakfast with Santa and the Nadine Anderson Santa Workshop have been modified into Donuts & Selfies with Santa that will take place Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. until noon inside Smokehouse BBQ 52 at 125 S. Main St.

Stop by to grab a selfie with Santa and everyone in line will receive a free donut (while supplies last).

Santa will be inside Smokehouse 52 BBQ and everyone will line up outside the building. The “garage” doors outside Smokehouse 52 BBQ will be open so that Santa can interact safely with the kids, and families can take photos without window glare.

Also on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the return of the All the Trimmings Holiday Artisan Show at the Chelsea Fairgrounds. The 14th annual artisan show features rug hooking, bears, vintage collectables and antiques, wood carvings, jewelry, artwork, fiber arts and Christmas greens. There is free admission, parking and refreshments.

Across the street at 20500 West Old US 12, St. Barnabas Church will host its annual quilt show and sale from 10-3 p.m. There will be a free quilt raffle, crafts and a baked goods sale as well.

Among the downtown events on Saturday are the 2021 Children’s Christmas Bazaar at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church with registered shopping spots beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running until 3 p.m.

Lane Animal Hospital will host a DIY Holiday Pet Photo Booth from 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m. at its veterinary hospital.

From 2-8 p.m. is the Tinsel & ‘Tinis Makers Mart at Ugly Dog Distillery. There will be Chocolate Martinis and artists and vendors selling paintings, pottery, soaps, candles, cards, yarn, vintage Christmas decorations, woodworking and more.

The day finishes with a flourish — the annual light parade down Main Street, which begins at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Old 12 and M-52 and proceeds into the downtown to Jackson Street.
