The City of Chelsea would like to remind pedestrians that the northbound and southbound traffic lights on Main Street at both Middle Street and Park/South Streets are not timed the same – unless a pedestrian pre-empts the signal by pressing the crosswalk button.
To activate the Safe to Walk crosswalk signal at these intersections, the crosswalk buttons must be pressed.
Failure to press the crosswalk button will result in the northbound and southbound Main Street traffic signals not syncing and the Safe to Walk light indicator will not illuminate.
