Chelsea Boy’s Track and Field Team won the Bath Invitational and Berkley Edwards set two school records at the meet.

Here’s what Head Coach Eric Swager had to say.

We went up to Bath on a cold, rainy evening, and competed well, he said.

“I continue to emphasize positive attitudes with the guys, and in spite of the weather, we are capable of competing and focusing on the task at hand, and we were able to do that.”

Individual highlights were many, but a few things stand out:

*Edwards set 2 school records in the 100 and 200. The 100 record was one that he broke just last week, while the 200 record
was held by Justin Esch from the mid 2000’s.

“Both times are now the fastest in the state for any division,” Swager said, adding, “It is a testament to his continuing hard work and conditioning all winter and spring.”

*Zach Rabbitt had a great day, running a lifetime best split in the 3200 relay, breaking the elusive 2:00 barrier.

*Austin Horn has developed a fearsome kick, and used it to blow away opponents to win both distance races.

*Shane McGrath continues to rise to the occasion, being a double hurdle winner.

“The other events also had some solid performances, and our relays need to sharpen just a bit prior to Regionals next week – but I am excited about our status at this point,” Swager said.

“We will work on thinking and focusing as a team this week, supporting each other and holding each other accountable across the board,” the coach said, adding, “Once again I would like to thank all the coaches for their efforts with our athletes.”
