Earlier this week, Emilee Underwood, a Chelsea High School senior, ran a softball camp for girls in grades 4-7.

Softball has been a major part of her life for more than 10 years and she thought that hosting a camp was a way to show her love of the game and pass her experience along to some future softball players. The clinic taught the campers about fielding, hitting, and pitching.

There was no better instructor than Emilee after the accolades she received last season. They included being named (Ann Arbor area) Mlive Player of the Year and Division 2 All State First Team pitcher by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association.

John Daniels, one of the assistant coaches on the Chelsea softball team, had nothing but praise about Emilee. “Being able to coach Emilee has been a true joy. She is extremely talented, but is always willing to be coached and improve. She’s a terrific teammate, fierce competitor, and a great role model.”

She will be continuing her softball skills at the next level. After finishing her senior year on the diamond next spring, she will play at Concordia College where plans to study either education or sports medicine.

But this week, she is teaching softball skills to some future Lady Bulldogs.
