Virtual Author Talk, Writing Workshops, and Book Discussion

This year, Chelsea residents can tune into a virtual author talk with Jason Reynolds and Brandon Kiely. They discuss how they came to write All American Boys together, the importance of the book’s themes in their own lives, and how we can create meaningful inter-racial dialogue around issues like police brutality.

his video will premiere on Feb.16 at 7 p.m. and will be available to watch on the Ann Arbor District Library’s YouTube channel, AADL.TV, all winter long.

In the months of January and February, the Chelsea District Library and the Dexter District Library are partnering with Michelle Tuplin of Chelsea’s Serendipity Books to put on a writing workshop discussing truth and authenticity in writing. This two-part, evening workshop is perfect for both experienced and beginner writers.

Participants may attend Part 1 (Jan. 21 or Jan. 26) and Part 2 (Feb.16 or 25) for the full workshop experience.

The Chelsea District Library will host a discussion of All American Boys during the virtual book club, Reading Glasses, on Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in attending may register by calling 734-475-8732 x219, or visiting www.chelseadistrictlibrary.org and selecting events.
