Feb. 17: Dale Lesser to talk at Transition Town Chelsea potluck

Transition Town Chelsea will host a pot luck on Monday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington Street Education Center, 512 E. Washington St.

The guest this month, Dale Lesser of Lesser Farms and Orchard, comes from generations of local farmers in the Chelsea area.

He hasn’t given up farming or sold out; he hasn’t switched to all corn and soybeans (although he grows some of that); and he hasn’t gone organic either (although he has moved some toward that direction).

Lesser has quite a unique story to tell from decades of experience. Perhaps best known for apples, he also keeps bees and harvests and sells firewood.

He is very eager to share with us the various trade-offs that he has wrestled with in terms of conventional versus natural, the ups and downs with weather, pests, and regulatory issues.

The potluck meal begins at 6:30 and the presentations begins at 7:30.

If you are coming to the potluck meal, please bring a dish to pass and your own place settings.
