Feb. 21: Culver’s of Chelsea Partners with Interact Club to Make a Difference

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jeff Holden for the information in this story.)

Since opening the doors of the first restaurant in 1984, Culver’s® has been committed to being an active member in its local community.

On Feb. 21, Culver’s of Chelsea, located at 1610 South Main St. will carry on that tradition by donating a portion of its sales to raise funds for the Chelsea High School Interact Club between 5-8 p.m.

“We’re proud to call Chelsea home and doing our part to help just feels right,” said Gerry Olinik. “We strive to make a difference in the community we share with so many others, and working with Interact Club allows us to help support individuals and families in our area.”

Culver’s support of Interact Club is just part of its dedication to giving back to the community. From Culver’s founders to locally owned and operated restaurants, each franchise partner and team member understands the importance of serving those in need.

About the Interact Club from Lisa Carolin article in the Chelsea Update on Feb. 27, 2020.  Updated by Jeff Holden

You may be aware of Chelsea High School’s Interact Club and its most recent goal of seeking donations to purchase a shelter box kit that contains items essential to families displaced by disaster.  Most recently in Turkey and Syria for victims of the recent earthquakes.

The club’s goal is to raise $1,000 to purchase a complete ShelterBox to ship to a family in need.

CHS teacher Holly Reiser is in her third year as Interact Club advisor, and says the club, which is part of Rotary International, provides opportunities for students to participate in service projects that are both global and help the community.

“The purpose of Interact is to provide opportunities for young people to work together in a world fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding,” said Reiser. “Participation broadens a student’s understanding of the needs of those around them both locally and globally. By allowing students to participate in projects that have a positive impact, they feel empowered and gain knowledge of their ability to have an impact on their community. They learn to make change happen.”

There are close to 20 students in the CHS Interact Club, which is open to all students. Members are required to participate in at least two projects throughout the school year.

In addition to the current shelter box project, the CHS Interact Club has been involved in a variety of projects around the community with the support of the Rotary Club of Chelsea.
