(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Last Monday, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club will hear from Nancy Paul from Faith in Action (FIA).

She showed the club a video made in cooperation with Food Gatherers that featured a couple of individuals who have benefited from Faith in Action.  Help is there for families during a temporary job loss or other setback.

Faith in Action is working toward more affordable housing in Chelsea and Dexter with some apartments available hopefully before year end. The rent would be 30 percent of the tenant’s income.

This Monday, club members will hear from martial arts Grand Master Keith Hafner from Keith Hafner’s Karate. He will speak about the benefits children reap from learning martial arts, and share some examples of children who have developed their focus, strength, confidence, and positivity through training.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
