An adaptation of the essay The Line at Which I Stopped Reading, by Alex S. Alexander, premieres at Ann Arbor Civic Theatre’s Studio as a benefit for A2CT, featuring Chelsea residents Emma Clayton, Rose Merkel, and Amanda Daniels, with Denyse Clayton as Narrator.

The staged reading, adapted and directed by Denyse Clayton, takes place Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. at the A2CT Studio, 322 West Ann St., Ann Arbor.

Tickets are $15. Tickets and information are available at www.a2ct.org. Tickets are limited and any remaining will be available at the door beginning 45 minutes before each performance.

The Line at Which I Stopped Reading is a hilarious exploration of the world of online dating. Based on—and often quoted directly from—responses to the author’s dating profile, four actors take the audience through the wacky deal breakers Alexander encountered in their quest for a romantic relationship.

Director Denyse Clayton encourages women to BYOB and make the performance a “Galentine’s night out with girlfriends,” but stresses that the show may appeal to men, as well. “Everyone can relate to the humor and pathos inherent in the attempts by online daters to make a connection,” says Clayton.
