Feb. 9: Chelsea’s annual Chocolate Extravaganza

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and to help celebrate, Chelsea businesses will showcase an assortment of decadent treats during the 11th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Participating businesses and restaurants will be hosting an indulgent experience offering Valentine’s Day shopping incentives and sweet treats. 

More than 30 local businesses will offer a variety of treats, including a chocolate fountain at Maureen’s Designs, new markdowns, new inventory and refreshments at Moran’s Consignment, and Wines on Main will be hosting an evening of Karaoke fun.

“The fun goes beyond chocolate, there are opportunities for our customers to ‘make and take’ free valentine crafts” shared Jennifer Fairfield, owner of the Garden Mill, where kids can ‘make and take’ a Valentine bird feeder, while supplies last. Many restaurants will offer special chocolate desserts or drinks on their menus during the event. Smokehouse 52 BBQ will showcase Smoked Chocolate Tres Leches and for anyone on the go, free hot chocolate will be available at the carryout entrance of the Common Grill.

Sign up to win a “Basket of Sweet Treats” at The Chelsea Depot where an Artisan Market will be open from 10-5 p.m. The market will feature 12 area artisans showcasing jewelry, pottery, soaps, wearables, glass, photography, primitives, metal and paper art, along with refreshments and door prizes.  

Stop by Chelsea’s Curling Fest 2019 located next to Chelsea Lanes at 1180 S. Main St., featuring a tournament on Saturday, Feb. 9 for both experienced and novice competitors, learn-to-curl ice time Feb.8-10.

Spectators are welcome to watch the bonspiel (term for curling tournament) free of charge and enjoy music, beer, food, hot cocoa, and more in a heated tent.

In addition to the free parking throughout Chelsea, there will be free WAVE shuttles on Saturday traveling between stores located along M-52 (Main Street) They will pick up and drop off in the parking lot in front of Curtis Chiropractic at 1170 S Main St.
