Sylvan Township officials were recently contacted by Ross Good, senior manager of State Government Affairs at Fiat Chrysler Automotive saying the company wanted to donate 1,000 masks to the township.

The United Parcel Service assisted the township in receiving the package since the township offices are closed due to Covid 19.

Clerk Kathleen Kennedy said after first checking with local first responders, the Chelsea Police Department and Chelsea Area Fire Authority, to see if they were in need of masks, (both of which said they were not), the township donated some to St. Louis Center, a residential community for children and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities that is located in the township and the Chelsea Senior Center, which is utilized by many township seniors.

Officials kept some for the township offices in anticipation of re-opening when public meetings will once again take place.

Below is a thank you note from St. Louis Center officials.
