The deadline has passed for candidates to get their names on the Nov. 5 Chelsea City Council ballot and the total remains at 10.
Mayor Jason Lindauer is the only candidate who is running for re-election unopposed for his current seat. (Unless, of course, there is a write-in campaign.)
Six candidates will have their names on the ballot running for the three 4-year seats.
They are:
Cheri Albertson
Jeff Blazok
Melissa Johnson
Jim Myles
Marcia Parker
Dustin Suntheimer
There are three candidates running for the two 2-year seats.
They are:
Frank Hammer
Susan J. Moore
Jane Pacheco
Of course, there could be write-in candidates for these offices as well.
According to the county election website:
1. A write-in candidate is a person who seeks nomination to office after the official filing deadline for that office has passed.
2. A write-in candidate’s name will not appear on the ballot.
3. However, once a Declaration of Intent form is filed, a candidate may accumulate valid write-in votes.
4. In order to become a valid write-in candidate, an individual must file a Declaration of Intent with the appropriate filing official (in this case the Chelsea City Clerk) by 4 p.m. on the second Friday preceding the election, which would be Oct. 25.
