Firefighters from five departments battle barn fire in Lima Township Monday night

Firefighters from five departments responded to a barn fire in Lima Township Monday night that destroyed a milking parlor on Easton Road.

Chelsea Fire Chief Jim Payeur said the call came in about 7 p.m. and firefighters found the milking parlor fully engulfed at the farm of Archie Bradbury.

Payeur said Tuesday morning that fire investigators were looking into the blaze today for a possible cause. The fire destroyed an about 30 by 60 structure. Thankfully, there were no injuries to humans or livestock.

He said firefighters from Dexter, Scio, Manchester, Saline and Chelsea were able to stop the fire from jumping to a nearby structure that was filled with hay and straw.

The herd of dairy cows were relocated to three neighboring farms, Payeur said, adding, “I think he’ll only miss one milking.”
