The First Congregational Church of Chelsea will perform July mission work close to home this year.

During the week of July 14-18, church members will hold a 2014 Mission “trip” themed, “God’s Work/Our Hands/Together in Mission.”

In previous years, parishioners took to the highway and traveled to Neon, KY, Nashville, New Orleans, and Middleburgh, NY for mission work.

This year they will stay in town and help members of their congregation who are in need of some helping hands around their homes. The group might also work on a community-based project.

“We will have a group each day remain at the church to work on projects in and around the building,” according to information from the church.

Each day will start with breakfast and devotions at 8 a.m., then participants will break into 3-4 groups and work from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Between 4 and 6 p.m., everyone will go home to clean up and then meet back at the church for dinner, devotions and activities.

Friday evening will be reserved for privately sharing experiences from week to be followed by a closing worship service.

The church will hold a yard sale on Thursday, July 17 in the evening during Sounds and Sights and on Friday, July 18 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
