Be sure to look for the first flags that have been placed on several streets in Chelsea for Veteran’s Day, which are part of the Chelsea Lions Club flag project.

The Lions Club began selling subscriptions for their flag display project this fall.

The 3 by 5 flags are placed by Lions members 3-4 days before the holiday and taken down 3-4 days afterward.

The Chelsea Lions Flag Day project includes doing the work to display Old Glory on the five major flag holidays — Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4, Labor Day and Veterans Day.

A yearly subscription is $40 and the flags remain the property of the Lions Club. But, if you refer a neighbor and they buy a yearly subscription, you’ll get $5 off your following year’s subscription.

Currently, there are six American Flags along Main Street both north and south of town, one on Old US-12 across from the Chelsea Community Fairgrounds, three on Clardell Court and three on West Middle Street.

There are also 15 flags in the North Lake area.

Go here, and look under the projects tab for all the details of how you can purchase one.
