To increase the physical fitness level of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities living the Chelsea area, St. Louis Center has developed the Fitness for Life program.

And, people within a 20-mile radius may participate in this program.

“We had a lot of success our first year in weight loss coordination, and overall improved quality of life amongst our residents that we want to extend the program to members of the community with IDD,” said Caitlin Deis, fitness specialist.

The spring session begins April 15 and runs through May 24.

The beginner group will meet Monday and Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. and the advanced group will meet Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6 p.m.

The classes cost $48 per person per session, or $72 for both classes.

For more information, email Caitlin [email protected] or call 475-8430. Classes are held at St. Louis Center, 16195 W. Old U.S. Hwy 12 in Sylvan Township.
