Mustard’s Retreat, “more than folk band” will perform as part of the Kaleidoscope Concert series on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. at Silver Maples of Chelsea.

“We’re excited to welcome Mustard’s Retreat to our concert series,” said Shawn Personke, director of activities and public relations for Silver Maples. “They’ve been an integral part of the folk scene for over 30 years, but they are so much more than “folk.”  It’s going to be a great concert.”

Everything David Tamulevich and Michael Hough, aka Mustard’s Retreat, do on a stage is aimed at pleasing, moving and engaging their audience, according to a press release.

Whether singing their own gentle love songs and vivid ballads, telling tall tales or offering treasures from America’s vast traditional song bag, a Mustard’s Retreat show always feels like it’s designed for the people who have come to see them that day, in that coffeehouse, school, concert hall or festival.

“As much as we aim to entertain, we also look to educate,” Tamulevich said of the way Mustard’s Retreat approaches audiences, “and hopefully enlighten and open some doors they maybe hadn’t seen before.

“And ideally, to create a moment of community where everybody is sharing the same experience, the same idea, the same song. I mean, that’s the only reason for me to be up there: we really want that connection to people.”

The January concert is sponsored by Norm and Kathleen Neuman.

Silver Maples is located at 100 Silver Maples Dr.

The concerts are free, but tickets, available at the Chelsea Senior Center, are required. Once tickets are gone, patrons are encouraged to come to the show for the second seating when all empty seats are filled.
