For U-M fans: Robinson, Funchess Big 10 players of the week

Denard Robinson was named Big 10 Offensive Player of the Week following his 426 yards of total offense and four TDs, two rushing and two passing in U-M’s 31-25 win over Air Force on Saturday, Sept. 8,

The senior QB finished with 218 yards rushing and 208 yards passing to become the only player in FBS history to run and pass for 200 or more yards in the same game three times.

He scored on runs of 79 and 58 yards and completed touchdown passes of 30 and seven yards.

This is his eighth career Offensive Player of the Week honor, tied for second in conference history with former Purdue quarterback Drew Brees.

Big 10 Freshman of the Week was Devin Funchess, who grabbed four catches for 106 yards and scored a touchdown during the victory.

In fact, he caught a 30-yard pass for a TD in the second quarter to give the Wolverines a 14-3 lead, and made history in the process as the first U-M tight end to record 100 or more yards receiving since 1997.
