Free workshop for caregivers of people with chronic diseases

The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is hosting the Powerful Tools for Caregivers health series in Chelsea for the caregivers of people living with chronic diseases.

The six-week program, offered at no cost to participants, provides caregivers with tools and coping strategies to manage long-term health challenges.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers will take place at the Chelsea Senior Center, 512 W. Washington St.

Six weekly sessions start on Wednesday, Feb.19 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and continue at the same time and place every Wednesday through March 25. Participants can join on Feb. 19 or Feb. 26.

Participants learn to:
decrease stress and cope with difficult emotions
increase confidence in managing caregiving demands
communicate better with family, friends, and healthcare providers
set goals and solve problems
locate community resources
