From The Garden – Cooking in Season took place Wednesday, July 10 at the Chelsea Area Senior Center, and participants learned how to prepare fresh farmers’ market vegetables using simple techniques with only a few added ingredients.
Participants also learned how to make Kale Chips and Zucchini Fritters with Tahini-Herb Sauce.
One participant remarked how happy she was to learn a stealth new way to prepare zucchini for her husband. “I need to hide the zucchini in something,” she said, “or he won’t eat it.”
Erin and Beth offered tips for feeding 15 hungry farm hands, interspersed with humorous stories of life on the farm.
CCK Board Member Suzanne Murray brought fresh baguettes from her La Baguette business to round out the meal.
The samples were delicious and filling and many of us were inspired to go directly to the Chelsea Bushel Basket Market at Chelsea Community Hospital that afternoon and start using our new-found veggie knowledge.
