ChelseaBulldogsLogoGoldTrim(Chelsea Update would like to thank Head Girls Track and Field Coach Shane Rodriguez for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Girl’s Track and Field Team competed in the Mason Bulldog Invitational last Friday, coming away with 3rd place of 8 teams.

Grace Sauers and Laura McGrath paced the team with 1st place finishes in the long jump and 100 meter dash, respectively.

The relays scored valuable points as well and remain consistent at the midway point of the season, Head Coach Shane
Rodriguez said.

“The warm weather is really starting to help as times are dropping and field events are really improving,” Rodriguez said, adding, “We will need to maintain this improvement if we want to remain undefeated in the SEC and win a SEC championship.”

The other big event is the regional meet, which is only three weeks away, he said.

“This meet will determine our state qualifiers and we are looking to take as many as we can to the state championship meet,” Rodriguez said, adding, “I enthusiastically applaud the efforts of the athletes, coaches, and parents for making the season so far a huge success.”

The coach is looking for four volunteers to time during the home meet against Tecumseh on Tuesday.

We are looking forward to our last two SEC duals and some of the “big meets” coming up, he said.
