Glee Havens, owner of Glee Cake & Pastry, threw a community party to celebrate both the shop’s 1-year anniversary and the Christmas season Thursday night.

Featuring her amazing cupcakes and cakes, Havens welcomed the community into the Main Street retail location for a night filled with sweet treats, smiles, wine and good cheer.

The pastry shop at 117 S. Main St., showcased not just customer favorites, but also limited edition, edible gingerbread houses crafted with a lighting option.

Havens said she was thankful to the Chelsea community for its support during the store’s first year in its downtown location.

“Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly,” she said, adding that she chose Chelsea because of its small-town charm.

Featuring classic European-style cakes, Havens creates wedding cakes, cupcakes, and individual pastries.

In December, Havens will showcase special holiday offerings including gingerbread cupcakes and mini fruit cakes as well as award-winning cinnamon caramel walnut bars, fresh gingercake and cloud cake.

There will also be a limited number of gingerbread houses that are completely edible and can be lit, she said.

Included in the staff photo are Havens, Kristi Bokros, Laurel Hall, Ashton Havens, Laura O’Brien and Terri Branstrom.
