For those who are sensitive to products they use on their hair and skin, Hair by Trios in Chelsea may be just the place for you. The salon’s hair and skin care products are certified organic as are the personal skin products sold at the salon, which are also gluten and allergen free.
Chelsea resident Cindy Triveline owns Hair by Trios, which is located at 112 East Middle St. in the green house attached to Chelsea Village Flowers. The salon has three chairs and five stylists Billie Jo Owens, Ashlie Pulford, Lynette Schantz, and Rose Lawrence, in addition to Triveline.
“We are the only certified organic hair salon in Washtenaw County,” said Triveline. “Everything we do – hair products, perms, color, as well as our skin and personal care items – are all certified organic.”
Triveline says that she herself is into organic products. She believes that branding is important, and the organic products is what makes her salon unique.
“A lot of people have allergies, and some are sensitive to smell,” said Triveline. “We have exhaust fans over the styling chairs so that the salon doesn’t smell.”
She says that the salon advertises in alternative magazines and has been building its clientele. The personal care products line was added right before Christmas and has been successful in a short period of time.
During the month of March, Hair by Trios will offer its own version of March Madness, offering multiple services for clients.
“We will take people from start to finish,” explained Triveline, who says she enjoys working in Chelsea.
