Harvest Art Market planned Oct. 6 at Silver Maples of Chelsea

In its fifth year, the Harvest Art Market at Silver Maples of Chelsea, offers a “market mix” or fall harvest of art on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Plus, there’s also a giant bake sale that begins at 10 a.m. until the yummy items are all gone and you can enjoy music by Arbor Woodwind Quartet from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. while shopping at the market.

Shawn Personke, director of activities and public relations for Silver Maples, says the show is neither “too ‘fine-artsy;’ nor too ‘crafty’.

“We’ve found that both our artists and our customers really appreciate interesting, hand-made items from artisans such as potter Cheryl Green, wood carver Colin Mehaffey, and silk/paper artist Joyce Nass,” she said in a press release.

The art items are varied, well made, and well-priced and the show is organized by the Silver Maples Art Committee, she said.

“We’re excited to welcome back several of our “regulars,” including Susan Falcone, who specializes in capturing the beauty of wild life and Celtic icons through a technique called glazing,” Personke said, adding, “Jan Sevde, a beekeeper who uses beeswax to make soaps, candles, and other items, and Wendy St. Antoine’s Bittersweet Farm Antiques, a cool mix of antiques and hand painted folk art,” will also be there.

New this year is Judy Irwin, a potter, who specializes in functional and pretty pottery, such as coffee mugs, bowls, platters, casseroles, berry bowls, plus vases, planters and lanterns.

“Creating something out of clay on the potter’s wheel is like magic to me,” Irwin said in a press release. “As a beginner, the clay becomes whatever it wants to be. As you become more skilled at throwing you can create anything you want, the possibilities are endless.”

Wood carver Colin Mehaffey is also new to the show with Victorian Santa, St. Patrick, pumpkin, and Uncle Sam statues.
