Damage to your home can happen anytime – anywhere.

Some damage cannot be avoided (weather related), but many of the damages can be prevented.

Gateway Restoration located in downtown Chelsea, has been assisting this community with property damage (residential or commercial) for the past 12 years and recently compiled interesting local data about the market.

Co-owner of Gateway Restoration, Deanna Robbins announced she will share her many years of experience in a countdown series, beginning next week. Providing the top 10 most common damages that occur in the home, useful prevention tips, informative guest experts and even some of her craziest encounters over the years.

“Weather, of course, is a huge factor in property damage and related to many of our Top 10 areas that we will cover,” she said.

According to Robbins “The good news – Michigan is relatively a safe state to live in – statistically. However, most studies do not take into consideration blizzards and snowstorms”.

Robbins goes on to say, “Each year 1 in 15 homes will experience some sort of property damage that requires an insurance claim. It is more common than most people think, yet in a lot of cases it could have been prevented. Property damage is expensive – a simple water line break in the home can cost $2k-$100K, depending on the severity. We would like to help our community and provide some in-depth knowledge and helpful tips on how to prevent damage from happening.”

Beginning next week, we will start with No. 10 on our list, which is typically, the most uncommon and infrequent.

Please join us next week for our countdown to the top 10 most common damages that occur in the home – starting with Number 10.
