The entire Chelsea community can help the Chelsea PTO, and the teachers and students in North Creek and South Meadows elementary schools, by participating in a program called Box Tops for Education, which requires very little effort on your part, but pays big dividends for the schools.
It’s pretty simple and involves is clipping box tops and labels of products you already buy. Click on this Image of the participating products.
This program is one way the PTO raises money for the elementary schools to “give back to the teachers and students to enhance the learning environment,” according to the group’s mission.
So consider being a part of “Box Tops for Education” program by clipping and donating your labels to the PTO. Each one is worth 10 cents and last year, the PTO raised more than $6,000 through these box top collections.
For each classroom that collects at least 500 box tops, the PTO will throw a “pop party.”
If a classroom collects 500 box tops by Nov. 21, the class will have a blow “pop” party.
If the classroom collects 500 by Feb. 20, the class will be treated to a “pop” corn party and if 500 are collected by May 29, the students in the class will have a “pop” sicle party.
So, if everyone helps out, all six elementary school classes could be treated to three parties during the year.
Teachers have collection bags in the classrooms, or if you don’t have children in the schools, you can drop off your box tops at either school to help the PTO’s fundrasing efforts.
The PTO has approved a budget of about $19,000 for the year, and here are a few examples of the projects planned — $3,000 for teacher grants, $3,600 for teacher appreciations and classroom supplies, $1,000 for balls and ropes and $5,000 for school supplies.
