5th grade Junior Troop 41097 is working on their bronze award project (the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn) by collecting donations of critical need items for the Huron Valley Humane Society through Feb, 15.

We hope the community will assist them in their efforts and visit one of the participating locations and make a donation of one of the needed items.  The locations are South Meadows and North Creek elementary schools, Family Farm and Home, Wags to Wiskers and Farmer’s Supply.

To earn the Bronze award, there are many hours of planning. The girls each had assignments and one of them was asking local businesses if they could put the boxes out for the donations.

Their goal is to raise a minimum of $500 in items.

We met with Karen Patterson, a representative of the Huron Valley Humane Society, before Christmas to discuss what their needs were and afterward, we toured the facility and we will be volunteering there soon.

Many thanks to the business owners and schools for helping us reach our goal. Please stop by one of these locations and help our furry friends in need.
