Hometown Holiday: have a ‘presence as a present’ during light parade

As a business owner, have a “presence as a present” and support the Chelsea Girl Scouts with this clever idea during the Hometown Holiday light parade on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m.

Here’s how it works, the Girl Scouts, along with their leaders, will be stopping by Chelsea businesses selling the present boxes for $25 each as a fundraiser.

You and your staff can decorate the present, and it must be adorned with lights – then the Girl Scouts will walk in the parade as your “present.”

Bob Pierce, executive director of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, which started the tradition, said the presents will have your business name on both the front and back of the box.

“It’s a fabulous way to get your business noticed during the parade while you’re warm inside your store doing business,” Pierce said.

The boxes will be on sale now through Nov. 15, so if you aren’t approached and you’d like to participate, call 734-475-1145 or email [email protected] for more information.

And, although the event is being organized by the chamber, you need not be a member to participate.

All funds raised will be donated to the Chelsea Girl Scouts.
